Approval of $3.5 billion urban planning for Cam Ranh Bay

The Cam Ranh coastal urban project, with a total investment of over VND 85 trillion (approximately USD 3.5 billion), has been approved by the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee for detailed planning at a scale of 1/500 for zones 2 and 3.

On February 28, the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa Province approved the Detailed Master Plan (scale of 1/500) for zones 2 and 3 of the Cam Ranh Coastal Urban Area (in Cam Ranh City), with a total area of over 640 hectares. Both zones are planned to develop a complete and synchronized urban area including technical infrastructure, residential areas, public facilities, and service facilities.

Specifically, Zone 2 of the Cam Ranh Coastal Urban Area covers a total area of over 325 hectares, including Ba Ngoi, Cam Linh, Cam Thuan, and Cam Phu wards in Cam Ranh City. This area is divided into two subzones: Zone 2A, with a total area of over 82 hectares and consisting of Ba Ngoi, Cam Loi, and Cam Linh wards; and Zone 2B, with a total area of over 242 hectares and consisting of Cam Thuan and Cam Phu wards. The estimated population size is about 57,050 people. The area designated for public and service facilities and social infrastructure is over 38 hectares (approximately 11.69% of the total area); the area for green spaces and water surfaces is about 36 hectares (11.24% of the total area).

Zone 3 of the Cam Ranh Coastal Urban Area covers a total area of nearly 315 hectares, including Cam Phuc Nam, Cam Phuc Bac, and Cam Nghia wards in Cam Ranh City. This area is divided into three subzones: Zone 3A (approximately 10.2 hectares), Zone 3B (approximately 147.5 hectares), and Zone 3C (approximately 157 hectares). The estimated population size is about 54,650 people. The area designated for public and service facilities and social infrastructure is nearly 40 hectares; the area for green spaces and water surfaces is over 73 hectares; the area for transportation and parking is over 61 hectares.

Prior to this, the Cam Ranh Coastal Urban Area project was approved for investment by the Prime Minister on April 1, 2023. The project covers a total land area of over 1,254 hectares, divided into three zones: Zone 1, covering Cam Lap and Cam Thinh Dong communes with an area of over 600 hectares; Zone 2, covering Cam Phu, Cam Thuan, Cam Linh, Cam Loi, and Ba Ngoi wards with an area of over 325 hectares; Zone 3, covering Cam Phuc Bac, Cam Phuc Nam, and Cam Nghia wards with an area of over 315 hectares.

The total investment capital for the project is over 85,000 billion VND (approximately 3.7 billion USD), with a project duration of 50 years and an implementation schedule of 5 years (from 2023 to 2027).
