[Survey] Declining Job Satisfaction Among HR Personnel in Recent Years

A recent report titled "Employer of Choice 2023" by CareerViet has highlighted the increasing impact of AI technology on job satisfaction in certain industries such as media, advertising, and education. With the rapid development of AI and its application in various fields, the report indicates that the introduction of AI has significantly influenced the level of job satisfaction among employees.

Recently, CareerViet, a member of Kariera Group – a leading HR company with over 25 years of experience in the European market, organized the “Holistic Excellence” event and the “Employer of Choice 2023” awards ceremony – honoring the most favorite employers of the past year.

At the event, CareerViet announced the in-depth analysis report “Employer of Choice 2023 – Favorite Employers 2023” conducted by CareerViet with the methodological support of prestigious partner, Amco Vietnam Market Research Company.

The online survey to vote for the most favorite employers was launched on November 28, 2023 and ended on January 9, 2024. The survey attracted more than 62,000 interests from all provinces and received over 39,000 respondents nationwide, from different ages and professions. The report analyzed two main perspectives: talent retention and talent attraction.

The media, advertising, and education industries have a relatively high level of job dissatisfaction

In terms of talent retention, Ms. Tran Lien Phuong, Research Director of Amco Vietnam, pointed out the profile of dissatisfied employees and their difficulty in connecting with businesses.

She said: “In the past 3 years, job satisfaction has been decreasing, with a satisfaction rating of only 3.9/5 in 2023. Perhaps during difficult times like the Covid-19 pandemic, employees and people seem to be more connected and satisfied. After years of difficult economic conditions, even more difficult than the Covid-19 period, the job satisfaction of employees decreased significantly. Among them, the impact of income, advancement opportunities, and reward evaluation policies are the top 3 reasons for employee dissatisfaction.”

In addition, the development of AI and the application of AI technology in various fields have had a significant impact, such as the media, advertising, or education industries.

The report also reveals the interesting points about the received and desired welfare benefits. For example, Private Health Insurance 24/7 is the second-wanted benefit that employees want to receive, while it ranks sixth in received benefits. She suggested that if businesses can prioritize and reorder their benefits, it could be a differentiating point to retain talents.

Income levels and salary policies remain the main concerns when looking for a job

In the general difficult context of the market, human factors are always the key to improving businesses’ competitiveness. According to the report, the factors that job seekers prioritize when looking for a new job are income levels, salary policies, and bonuses (71%); jobs that match their interests and passions (55%); opportunities to improve professional skills (53%); jobs that ensure stability and safety (51%); and work-life balance (48%).

Another notable information is that respondents revealed the reasons for deciding to stop applying for a job which often include receiving offers with better salaries and benefits (52%), having a poor interview experience (47%), waiting for a response for too long (41%), information exchanged in the interview session different from what was posted (40%)…
