During the conference, District 1 People’s Committee proposed 12 issues to the Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee. Among them, resolving obstacles in inviting investors for the Nguyen Cu Trinh Quadrangle project.

The Nguyen Cu Trinh Quadrangle, also known as Ma Lang area, is located in the center of Ho Chi Minh City, surrounded by 4 roads: Cong Quynh – Nguyen Trai – Nguyen Cu Trinh – Tran Dinh Xu. It is known as the “golden quadrangle” of Ho Chi Minh City.

In 2000, Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee had a plan to relocate this area to build a complex consisting of various facilities such as offices, commercial centers, services, hospitals, schools, apartments… By 2006, Binh Minh Production – Business – Import – Export Company (now Bitexco Group) was approved as the investor. However, since then, there has been no progress in implementing the project in this area.

In response to District 1’s proposal, Ms. Le Thi Huynh Mai – Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Investment, stated that the Nguyen Cu Trinh Quadrangle is a complex project, with many obstacles and undergoing different periods. This project has been revoked and the City is currently carrying out the procedures for new bidding.

Ms. Mai added that the Government has issued Decree 24 related to bidding work. After this decree is released, the Department of Planning and Investment will coordinate with relevant departments and units to promptly carry out the bidding, invest in the project, and renovate this area.
