The My Phuoc – Tan Van road has recently emerged as a phenomenon, praised by netizens for its 10 lanes, beautiful road surface and flower-filled median strips. What’s more surprising is that this is not a highway, but just a provincial road in Binh Duong province.

Unlike most other roads, My Phuoc – Tan Van is not entirely funded by the government, but is built through a combination of methods: the provincial budget compensates for land acquisition and clearance, while businesses cover the construction costs. The road was started in 2009 with a total capital of VND 4.3 trillion, invested by Becamex IDC Corporation. The road starts at Tan Van intersection (National Road 1), Binh Thang ward, Di An city and ends at the front of the district administrative center of Bau Bang, Lai Uyen town with a total length of 62 km.

The road has been divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 from Di An to Ben Cat town is over 42 km long, put into operation since 2015, with 6 lanes. Phase 2 from Ben Cat town to Bau Bang administrative center is 20 km long, 61 m wide with a scale of 10 lanes, completed in 2021. With this scale, the My Phuoc – Tan Van road in phase 2 is nearly 4 times wider than most of the currently constructed North-South highways (17 m, 4 lanes).

Since its operation, My Phuoc – Tan Van has been considered as a main transportation route of the province, a backbone route from North to South as it connects with other roads such as National Road 1A, National Road 1K. In addition, a part of this road also overlaps with Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3 project. The photo shows Dinh Hoa roundabout in Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province.

In addition to reducing traffic congestion on National Road 13 and other provincial roads, the My Phuoc – Tan Van road also helps reduce at least 30% of transportation time for goods and raw materials from factories to airports and seaports.

In addition, this road plays a role in connecting industrial zones in Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc and the Central Highlands provinces to Ho Chi Minh City.

An example of this is the My Phuoc 2 and My Phuoc 3 industrial zones in Ben Cat town. These are two rapidly developing industrial zones in Binh Duong province with a total initial investment of nearly VND 2,000 billion. The photo shows My Phuoc 3 industrial zone.

Thanks to its wide and clear lanes, traffic on this road is safer and accidents occur less frequently. The photo shows the My Phuoc – Tan Van road segment running through Thoi Hoa ward, Ben Cat town, Binh Duong province.

The My Phuoc – Tan Van road also opens up a new development process for real estate in Binh Duong. Previously, along the road were only vacant land and rubber hills, with sparse population. Since this road was built, companies, factories, restaurants, cafes, clinics, hospitals, etc. have sprung up; housing projects and apartment buildings have also been formed.

At present, the section from Dinh Hoa roundabout to Tan Van intersection has a scale of 6 lanes and intersects with many existing roads in the area, causing frequent congestion. Therefore, the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province has proposed to the Prime Minister to expand this road section to 8 lanes in order to synchronize with the ongoing Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3 project. The photo shows the intersection between the My Phuoc – Tan Van road and DT 741 road.

In the future, this road may be expanded to 10 lanes throughout the route. In addition, Binh Duong province will also invest in the construction of overpasses and tunnels at points where the road intersects with the My Phuoc – Tan Van road.
