Mr. Thang added that the airline has transferred passengers to Vietnam Airlines’ flights. Currently, Vietnam Airlines is arranging for Pacific Airlines to dry lease 3 aircraft.

Prior to that, surveys on all online ticket booking websites as well as on Vietnam Airlines’ official website, all flights from today (March 18) no longer display Pacific Airlines segments.

It is known that due to the very serious financial situation, severe cash shortage, and large overdue debts threatening the ability to pay, Vietnam Airlines and its shareholders have decided to return the entire fleet of Pacific Airlines’ aircraft to resolve the debt. Today (March 18) is also the day the last plane of the airline leaves Vietnam.

Reporters have contacted Vietnam Airlines but have not received an official response regarding Pacific Airlines’ future operation plan. According to estimates, returning the entire fleet of aircraft will help Pacific Airlines eliminate a “huge” debt of several hundred million USD.

Pacific Airlines is the first low-cost airline in Vietnam, which was previously invested by Qantas Group of Australia. In October 2020, the Qantas Group completed the procedures to withdraw from Pacific Airlines and transferred 30% of the shares back to Vietnam Airlines as a gift. By Q1/2022, the deal was completed, and Vietnam Airlines has held nearly 99% of the shares in Pacific Airlines since then until now.
