On March 19, at the Operation Control Center, Supervision and Command of the entire Ho Nhon – Hanoi railway line (OCC) located in the Nhon depot area, the Nhon – Hanoi metro staff organized train running charts and monitored the overall status of the line and the status of the train sets.

This is Phase 2 in the trial operation (Trial – Run) and is the final step in the 8-step testing and adjusting process before launching the project.

Inside the operation center, the team of employees from Hanoi Railway Company (Hanoi Metro) started their duty as testers from 7:45 AM until 4:45 PM daily, except Saturdays and Sundays.

Train running charts were created, and the overall status of the line and train sets were monitored.

To board the train, passengers use train tickets in the form of plastic cards or coins. Each train ticket can only be swiped once when the entrance door is open.

The interior of the train is primarily designed in light gray color with a system of white LED lights. Handrails for standing passengers are painted in red.

The train is one of the most modern products of the French manufacturer Alstom. The train is fully equipped with facilities such as air conditioning, ventilation, passenger broadcasting system, camera system, independent fire and smoke detection system, LED lights that automatically adjust the lighting to match the underground section…

The low-floor train is very convenient for passengers to get on and off, especially for those carrying luggage or using wheelchairs. In addition, there are priority areas dedicated to people with disabilities, seats for the elderly, women, and children.

The train uses the URBALIS CBTC (Communication-Based Train Control) signaling solution, which is the most advanced solution of Alstom, with advantages such as flexible control system structure, optimized safety, and uninterrupted passenger service.

While moving from the train storage to the main line, the train passes through an automatic train washing area, with the train washing machine placed between the rails at the front of the train stop area in the Nhon depot.

The train passes through the train washing machine at a speed of 3 – 5km/h.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Son – Deputy Chief of the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB) said that as of now, all train sets have completed the inspection and fire prevention tasks. After one week of trials, MRB has completed 7 out of the planned 57 emergency situation scenarios. The implementation process has shown smooth operation, following the planned script.

Next week, train drivers and OCC staff will practice handling emergency situations, responding to fires, and evacuating passengers on trains.

According to the plan, the Nhon – Hanoi metro train will finish the trial operation by the end of April and start commercial operation from the beginning of July 2024.

The Nhon – Hanoi Urban Railway Project (experimental urban railway line in Hanoi, section Nhon – Hanoi station) has been implemented since 2006.

The railway line is 12.5km long, passes through 8 elevated stations and 4 underground stations, of which the elevated section (Nhon – Cau Giay) is 8.5km long and the underground section (Cau Giay – Hanoi station) is 4km long. The depot located in Nhon covers an area of 15ha. The total investment in the project is over VND 34,800 billion.
