Northern border checkpoints resume goods clearance from today

Starting from today (14/2), international borders Huu Nghi and Tan Thanh (Lang Son) will resume customs clearance for pre-registered import and export goods, and normal customs clearance will resume on 18/2. Meanwhile, at the international border of Mong Cai (Quang Ninh), after discussions between the two countries' authorities, China has agreed to expedite the customs clearance process earlier than expected.

The Customs Department of Mong Cai International Border Gate (Quang Ninh) has announced that, according to the Tet holiday schedule, the functional forces at the Mong Cai (Vietnam) – Dong Hung (China) international border gates will temporarily suspend customs clearance procedures for goods until the end of February 17. However, after mutual discussions, China has allowed the clearance of goods from February 12 (which is the 3rd day of Tet).

On February 12 (the 3rd day of Tet), at the Bac Luan II border gate – Mong Cai International Border Gate, 10 trucks carrying 56.7 tons of various types of fresh seafood for export to China were cleared. This includes 4.4 tons of live lobsters and 52.3 tons of live crabs. These are pre-registered export goods.

According to the Mong Cai Customs Department, functional forces have arranged officers to work and ensure the most convenient and fast customs clearance procedures to serve import and export activities and cross-border operations safely and smoothly.

Starting from February 18 (the 9th day of the Lunar New Year), import and export activities of goods through the Bac Luan I, II, and Hai Yen Km3+4 border gates will resume normal customs clearance.

In Lang Son, Mr. Hoang Khanh Duy – Deputy Head of the Management Board of Dong Dang Border Economic Zone – Lang Son, said that, based on exchanges with relevant authorities in China, the unit has received information from the authorities of Bang Tuong town, Ninh Minh, Long Chau (China) regarding the resumption of customs clearance time for goods.

Accordingly, from today (February 14) to February 17, the Huu Nghi and Tan Thanh international border gates will proceed with customs clearance for pre-registered import and export goods. Starting from February 18, these two border gates will resume normal customs clearance.

The Huu Nghi International Border Gate (Lang Son) will resume normal customs clearance on February 18.

At the Chi Ma, Coc Nam, and Na Hinh border gates, customs procedures for pre-registered import and export goods will be carried out until February 17. Starting from February 18, these border gates will resume normal customs clearance. The Na Nua border gate will also resume customs clearance on the same day.

Meanwhile, in Lao Cai, import and export activities at the Lao Cai International Border Gate will take place throughout the Tet holiday, from 7 AM to 10 PM daily. According to statistics, at the beginning of 2024, the volume of arrivals and departures and the number of vehicles carrying imported and exported goods are relatively stable, with about 400 vehicles going through customs clearance procedures per day, mainly consisting of agricultural products and fresh fruits.

The units at the border gate have prepared plans and allocated personnel to avoid passivity, congestion, and blockage of vehicles carrying imported and exported goods, ensuring convenient customs clearance for goods and tourists.
