Flood of agricultural goods arriving at the border, waiting to be exported to China

According to the statistics from the Lang Son Customs Department, nearly 13,000 tons of Vietnamese agricultural products were exported to China during the 7-day Lunar New Year holiday. The demand for fruits and vegetables in China is high in the early days of the year, resulting in a busy influx of trucks carrying agricultural products to the border gates for export to this market.

The Lang Son Customs Department reported that the export of agricultural products to China in the early days of the new year has received positive signals. From February 8th to 14th, the department has received and processed customs procedures for 826 vehicles transporting goods for import and export through the province’s border gates. Of these, there are 585 vehicles transporting goods for export and 241 vehicles transporting goods for import.

Especially, during the 7-day Tet holiday, the customs units of the border gates have completed procedures for nearly 13,000 tons of Vietnamese agricultural products and fruits exported to the Chinese market.

According to the Lang Son Customs Department, starting from February 14th, the volume of fruit export vehicles at the province’s border gates has started to increase sharply to serve the demand of the Chinese market on the occasion of Lunar New Year. The forces at the border gates, especially the Friendship International Border Gate, Tan Thanh Border Gate, and Chi Ma Border Gate, have to work overtime and increase working hours to quickly complete customs procedures for fruit-loaded vehicles.

Fruit transportation vehicles are bustling to the northern border gates to export to China

At Lao Cai, the Lao Cai International Border Customs Department announced that during the Tet holiday, they have processed procedures for 391 declarations. The total turnover reached about 12 million USD, up 3.6 times compared to the same period last year, of which exports reached over 9.7 million USD and imports reached 2.2 million USD. The main export items include dragon fruit, durian, longan, jackfruit, mango, lychee, and watermelon… The main import items are cakes, apples, oranges, and pomelos…

Starting from tomorrow (February 18th), all border gates in the north will resume normal customs clearance. The volume of goods transported to the north is very busy, especially when a series of Vietnamese agricultural products are entering the harvest season.

According to the Lao Cai International Border Customs Department, they are coordinating with functional forces at the border gates to create the most favorable conditions for businesses to quickly complete customs procedures, ensuring no congestion during the early days of the new year.

The General Department of Customs stated that in January, the export turnover of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products reached 5.14 billion USD, up 79.2% compared to the same period last year. In which, the value of exports to China increased by 106.9% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 23% of Vietnam’s total export turnover of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products.
