The People’s Committee of Nghe An province has recently issued Plan No. 72/KH-UBND to implement the Strategy for Import-Export of Goods until 2030 in Nghe An province.

The specific target of the plan is to strive for the export turnover of goods to reach USD 4 billion by 2025 and USD 7 billion by 2030. The average annual growth rate of export turnover of goods is expected to be 19% during the period of 2021-2030, of which the average annual growth rate of export turnover is 27.2% during the period of 2021-2025 and 11-12% during the period of 2026-2030. The proportion of processed industrial export products is expected to reach 95% by 2030, while the proportion of raw product exports is expected to decrease. The proportion of export to the European market is expected to reach 12% of the total export turnover by 2025 and 20% by 2030; to the US market, it is expected to reach 18% by 2025 and 25% by 2030; and the proportion of export to the Asian market is expected to be 68% by 2025 and 52% by 2030…

To achieve the above targets, the People’s Committee of Nghe An province has set out 6 specific tasks and solutions, including: developing production to ensure sustainable supply for export; developing export and import markets to ensure sustainable long-term growth; improving the system and enhancing state management in the organization of import-export activities to facilitate trade, combat trade fraud, and aim for fair trade; mobilizing and effectively utilizing resources for export development; managing and controlling import to meet domestic production needs and aim for a healthy and reasonable trade balance; and enhancing the role of industry associations and core businesses, promoting the formation of large-scale export value chains.

Based on the content and tasks assigned in the above plan, the People’s Committee of Nghe An province requires the heads of departments, boards, sectors; the chairpersons of the People’s Committees of districts, cities, towns; and the leaders of related agencies and units to concretize and develop detailed implementation plans or incorporate them into the annual work programs and tasks of the agencies, units, and organizations for effective implementation and progress; regularly report on the implementation situation and results, propose, and make recommendations to the Department of Industry and Trade of Nghe An province for consolidation and reporting to the People’s Committee of the province on a regular annual basis (before November 30).

The People’s Committee of Nghe An province has assigned the Department of Industry and Trade of Nghe An province to lead and coordinate with the Office of the People’s Committee of the province in monitoring and urging departments, boards, sectors, People’s Committees of districts, cities, towns, and related units to implement the Plan; regularly (before December 10) and when necessary, summarize the implementation situation from agencies and units and report to the Prime Minister as prescribed.

In 2023, the total export turnover of Nghe An reached USD 3.11 billion, surpassing the USD 3 billion mark for the first time; of which, the export of goods reached about USD 2.5 billion.

In the years 2022 and 2023, Nghe An attracted a total of nearly USD 2.5 billion of FDI capital, of which USD 1.6 billion was attracted in 2023 alone. The production of electronic devices and components has been a strong sector in Nghe An’s recent export growth. In 2024, Nghe An aims to produce 580 million electronic component products. The total export turnover of electronic devices and components of Nghe An will continue to increase in the coming years as projects are fully operational.

In 2024, Nghe An sets a target for exports to reach USD 2.75 billion. Specifically, there are six groups of goods with export turnover exceeding USD 100 million.

Leading the way is the group of electronic devices and components with an export turnover of about USD 680 million; followed by the group of construction materials with USD 550 million; the group of textiles and garments with USD 500 million; the group of wood chips with USD 200 million; the group of seafood with USD 140 million; and the group of various types of footwear with USD 100 million.
