According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the export turnover of agro-forestry-fishery products in February is estimated at $4.48 billion, bringing the total export turnover of agro-forestry-fishery products in the first two months of 2024 to $9.84 billion, an increase of 50.3% compared to the same period in 2023.
Of which, the export value of agricultural products reached $5.18 billion, up 55.7%; seafood export reached $1.37 billion, up 28.9%; and timber export reached $2.9 billion, up 59.7%.
Coffee has the highest increase in export price, up to 44.7% compared to the same period last year, reaching $3,153 per tonne; rice export price also increased by 32.2%, reaching $699 per tonne; pepper price increased by 28.7%, averaging $4,041 per tonne; and cassava increased by 16.6% with a price of $444 per tonne.
Coffee is also the commodity with the highest export value and the highest level in the first two months of the year, reaching $1.38 billion, up 85% compared to the same period last year.
For rice, 1.01 million tonnes have been exported, worth $708 million, up 13.3% in volume and 49.8% in value compared to the same period in 2023.
During this period, pepper exports reached $143 million, up 12.9% in value; cassava exports reached $330 million, up 23.2% in value compared to the same period in 2023.
In terms of markets, in the first two months of 2024, the US, China, and Japan are the top three markets for Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fishery products, accounting for 21.5%, 21%, and 7.2% respectively.
