According to the design, this is a unique work not only in Da Nang but also in the Central Highlands region when the statue is carved from a solid stone mountain with a height of 65m, covering an area of 1,806m2 by Phu My Hoa Co., Ltd.
According to the leader of the People’s Committee of Lien Chieu District, during the process of exploiting the stone mine, Phu My Hoa Co., Ltd. requested to make the statue to create a highlight for the Da Son spiritual and cultural area and was approved by the Da Nang People’s Committee and the Construction Department issued a construction permit.
According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, since 2016, the Da Nang People’s Committee has agreed for Phu My Hoa Co., Ltd. to copy the statue at the Da Son spiritual and cultural area (belonging to Group 8, Da Son, Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District) with the name of the prototype Thich Ca Mau Ni Zen statue and the Guanyin Buddha statue in the unique meditation position of the Buddhist Museum. The purpose of use is to serve for the expansion of the Da Son spiritual and cultural area. The construction has been carried out for 6 years but has not been completed yet.
According to the commander at the construction site, to construct this giant stone statue of Buddha, the unit mobilized a large number of manpower and machinery to drill and cut each layer of the Phuoc Ly mountain stone. The construction process has lasted for 6 years and is expected to take another few years to complete.
The construction unit continues to cut the stone deep to create the remaining part of the Thich Ca Mau Ni Zen statue. “According to the plan, we will have to drill, cut and dig about 15-20m more to complete the statue according to the design,” said the construction commander.
According to the construction commander, when completed, this will surely be the most unique Buddha statue in the whole country as the statue is made of the entire mountain.
Up to now, after 6 years of construction, the stone statue of the Buddha Thich Ca Mau Ni meditating is only half completed. It is expected that after completion, this place will be one of the highlights of the culture, tourism, spiritual, and religious beliefs of the local people as well as domestic and international tourists.
