Preparing for the Upcoming Development of a Mega City with the Longest Coastline in Vietnam, worth 53 billion USD

Recently, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province has approved the Khanh Hoa Provincial Urban Development Program until 2030, with a vision towards 2045.

The goal of the program is to implement synchronous and effective programs and plans to achieve the target of Resolution No. 09-NQ / TW of the Politburo towards 2030 Khanh Hoa to meet the criteria of first-class urban area – a centrally-run city.

The total funding needs for the implementation of the Urban Development Program by 2030 (total investment capital) is estimated at about 1,299,000 trillion VND (equivalent to nearly 53 billion USD).

Of which, the phase until 2025 is 549,053 trillion VND; the phase from 2026 to 2030 is 749,947 trillion VND.

By 2030, Khanh Hoa will be a centrally-run city with 9 administrative units at district level (2 cities, 2 towns, 3 districts and 2 wards).

The urbanization rate is expected to reach 65% by 2025. Nha Trang city completes 100% of the criteria, standards of first-class urban area in the province, and strives to complete the standard of infrastructure development level of suburban wards.

Cam Ranh city basically meets some criteria, standards of second-class urban area.

Ninh Hoa town is a fourth-class urban area, continuing to strive to upgrade the quality of urban areas, basically meeting some criteria of third-class urban areas.

In the period from 2026 to 2030, Khanh Hoa continues to complete the criteria of first-class urban area – a centrally-run city; urban areas concentrate on implementing projects to create motivation for socio-economic development, completing low criteria, standards according to the planned urban areas, implementing the establishment, recognition, upgrading some urban areas.

Nha Trang city continues to be a first-class urban area, establishing suburban wards based on suburban communes that have achieved the standard of urban infrastructure development level.

Cam Ranh city completes the criteria of second-class urban area; at the same time, it basically meets the standard of urban infrastructure development level for the planned district.

Ninh Hoa town completes the criteria of third-class urban area; at the same time, it basically meets the standard of urban infrastructure development level for the planned district.

Dien Khanh town is a fourth-class urban area.

Van Ninh town will be established, meeting the criteria of fourth-class urban area and inner urban wards.

Cam Lam district completes the criteria of first-class urban area, expected to become a city in 2029.

Cam Duc town, Suoi Tan town and some communes basically meet the standard of urban infrastructure development level of inner urban wards.

To Hap town – Khanh Son district, Khanh Vinh town – Khanh Vinh district, Truong Sa town – Truong Sa district are fifth-class urban areas.

In the period from 2026 to before 2030, the urbanization rate reaches 70%.

Khanh Hoa is a coastal province in the South Central Coast of Vietnam, bordered by Phu Yen, Dak Lak and Lam Dong provinces, with an area of ​​5,197 km2 including islands, archipelagos and a population of 1,336,000 people (2022 figures). Khanh Hoa is also the province with the longest coastline in Vietnam with 385 km.
