Stock market surges by 100 points as major shareholders continue to cash out

From the beginning of the year, the VN-Index has recorded a remarkable increase of 100 points. This upward trend has resulted in many stocks achieving significant profits, leading to a vibrant market. As a result, major shareholders, company executives, and their relatives have been actively selling registered and existing shares.

CTCP Diamond Properties has registered to sell 4 million shares of NVL from CTCP Đầu tư Địa ốc No Va (Novaland). The transaction is expected to be executed from February 26 to March 26, 2024 through matching orders and/or agreements. If completed, Diamond Properties will reduce its ownership in Novaland to 171.4 million units (8.79% capital).

Currently, NVL shares are trading around VND 17,350 per unit. Accordingly, the company can collect about VND 69 billion.

With the latest move from Diamond Properties, the group of shareholders related to Chairman of Novaland’s Board of Directors, Mr. Bui Thanh Nhon, now holds less than 41% of the shares in Novaland. Compared to a year ago, the total ownership percentage of the group has decreased by about 11%. Around 8 million NVL shares have been transferred.

CTCP Chứng khoán VIX (VIX Securities Corporation) has also successfully “booked profits” from the sale of 1.65 million HJS shares of CTCP Thủy điện Nậm Mu (Nậm Mu Hydroelectric Corporation). After the transaction, VIX reduced its number of shares in HJS to just over 1 million shares, accounting for 4.97% of the capital and no longer being a major shareholder in HJS.

Previously, on February 6, VIX sold 1.36 million HJS shares. After more than 1 year of investment, VIX is estimated to have profited by 8.5% from the deal, with 3 dividend payments in cash and the stock price increase from Thủy điện Nậm Mu.

Many major shareholders, executives of businesses, and relatives are continuously registering and selling shares.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet – wife of Mr. Do Xuan Chieu, Board member of Thép Pomina (Pomina Steel Corporation) – has just announced that she will sell all of her 8.16 million POM shares in the period from February 23 to March 22. The transaction will be conducted through matching orders and agreements from February 23 to March 22. If the transaction is successful, Ms. Tuyet will no longer own any shares in POM.

Based on the current stock price of POM shares, Ms. Tuyet can collect approximately VND 42.6 billion. Not only Ms. Tuyet, from mid-2023 to now, relatives of Pomina Steel’s executives have continuously sold POM shares.

Mr. Tran Thien Ha – CEO of APG Securities Corporation – has successfully sold 800,000 APG shares in the session of February 20, for personal purposes. After the transaction, the number of shares held by Mr. Ha has decreased to 1.01 million shares, accounting for 0.66%.

The transaction was conducted through matching orders and agreements. At the end of the session on February 20, the market price of APG stopped at VND 14,400 per share, an increase of over 60% compared to the end of October 2023. Based on this market price, the amount of money Mr. Ha collected from the share sale is about VND 11.5 billion.
