Following the report “Transforming commercial apartments into residential areas” at the Vo Van Kiet Street, Ward 16, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City, on February 22, the inspection team from District 8 arrived at the apartment complex.

Before the Lunar New Year 2024, 7 shophouse units in Block B were renovated by Nhật Huy Khang Joint Stock Company, converting them into living quarters for trainees, with 66 bunk beds per unit, accommodating 478 people.

The commercial apartments have been converted into living space for trainees.

The inspection team assessed the fire safety and rescue efforts. At the time of the inspection, the 7 shophouse units, including BS03, BS05, BS07, BS09, BS10, BS12, and BS15, had been partitioned and used as residential areas for students. During the inspection, there were no residents in these 7 units.

The team recommended that Nhật Huy Khang Company restore the original approved design and comply with the fire safety regulations before putting the units into operation. Prior approval from the relevant authorities is required.

At the same time, the management board of the apartment complex was requested to monitor the relocation and renovation of the 7 shophouse units, ensuring fire safety during the process.

On the same day, Nhật Huy Khang Company issued a notification stating that on February 22, they would terminate the contracts for the lease of the 7 shophouse units.

In addition, the company submitted a dossier announcing the termination of business operations at the 7 shophouse units to the Business Registration Office (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Investment) on February 22, and it was received.
