In order to capture and promptly address the difficulties and challenges of the business community, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hau Giang Province, Dong Van Thanh, requested businesses in the province to submit documents reflecting difficulties and obstacles in their investment, production, and business activities. The Chairman also encouraged businesses to share their experiences and innovative ideas to support the provincial leaders in their decision-making and management, with the aim of timely resolving these issues and supporting businesses.

The deadline for businesses to submit their feedback, suggestions, and proposals to the Industrial Park Management Board of the province and the Department of Planning and Investment is before March 8, 2024.

Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hau Giang Province also requested the Department of Planning and Investment and the Industrial Park Management Board to inform businesses in the province about the submission process. They will also be responsible for coordinating with relevant units to compile the recommendations, experiences, and innovative ideas from businesses. They will also collaborate with the proposed units to resolve these issues before March 12, 2024.

According to the People’s Committee of Hau Giang Province, businesses have been identified as an important driving force for development and have made significant contributions to the province’s socio-economic development. By the end of 2023, there were 4,330 active businesses in the province, an increase of more than 37% compared to the same period, surpassing the target by more than 23%.

However, businesses still face difficulties and obstacles. Specifically, there has been an increase in the number of businesses suspending their operations compared to the same period, indicating a decrease in investment demand and the resilience of businesses. The number of registered investment projects has also significantly decreased in terms of quantity and total investment, reflecting the difficulty in finding investment opportunities and the weakened capacity of businesses.

In addition, although the province has proactively allocated funds for compensation, support, resettlement, and clean land acquisition, it is still insufficient to meet the needs of investors. The proportion of highly skilled technical and skilled labor is low, failing to meet the labor requirements of investors.

The process of land acquisition for some investment projects has been delayed, affecting the project implementation timeline. Due to difficulties in accessing capital and finding markets, businesses have been unable to effectively utilize land.

As part of the investment promotion program in 2024, Hau Giang will continue to organize dialogue conferences and business forums to promptly address difficulties and obstacles encountered by businesses in their production and business activities. They will guide and support investors in accelerating the implementation of projects or terminating ineffective projects or those that violate regulations. This will create favorable conditions for other investors to access and invest in the province.

Hau Giang will continue to focus on four pillars of development and investment attraction: “Modern Industry, Ecological Agriculture, Smart Urban Areas, and High-Quality Tourism.” The consistent viewpoint is that “When businesses thrive, Hau Giang prospers” and “The success of businesses is the achievement of the province.” The action slogan is “2 Fast, 3 Good” (fast land clearance – fast investment procedures; good opportunities – good policies – good infrastructure).
