The T1, T2 road project is a particularly important construction project, connecting to Long Thanh Airport from National Highway 51 and 2 expressways. The construction contractor is a consortium of 6 companies, led by Deo Ca Group. The project commenced in July 2023. The construction period is 885 days, with a total project value of over 2,630 billion VND.

According to the design, the T1 route is 4.3 km long, connecting National Highway 51 to Long Thanh Airport; The T2 route is 3.5 km long, connecting Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway (part of the North-South expressway) and running parallel to the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau expressway. The photo shows the initial section of the T1 route connecting to National Highway 51.

In particular, the construction site of the T1 route is very bustling. The construction unit ensures a 3-shift, 4-team process to accelerate the construction process as the rainy months approach.

Not only serving as a future connection to the airport, T1 is also an important public road to transport machinery and construction materials from National Highway 51 to the main construction site of Long Thanh Airport.

After more than half a year of construction, the T1 route has been opened from National Highway 51 to the entrance of Long Thanh Airport. This section of the road has also been paved with graded crushed stone to facilitate smooth traffic. Every day, hundreds of trucks carrying materials move in and out on this road.

According to the design, the T1 route also has 2 interchanges for convenient movement between the airport and nearby residential areas. They are designed in the shape of lotus flowers and drums.

In which the first interchange (lotus flower shape) is being built at a fast pace, the foundation concrete pillars of the embankment bridge system have been erected.

Mr. Vu The Phiet, General Director of Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), said that the contractors have mobilized 630 people and 196 sets of equipment to simultaneously deploy multiple construction points connecting Long Thanh Airport. Up to now, the project has deployed land clearing and K95 road leveling. At the same time, the contractors have paved many segments of the route with graded crushed stone, carried out bored pile construction, and cement and soil piles.

It is expected that the T1 route will complete the subgrade in August and handle weak soil and pile soils before May. The complete grading of the entire route is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025. As for the bridge section, the installation of super-T beams is expected to be completed before October 2024, and the completion of the bridge road surface, lighting, and guardrails is expected before July 2025.

As for the T2 route, only 86% of the land has been handed over, Airports Corporation of Vietnam has requested the local authorities to hand over the remaining land area to ensure the connection route is on schedule. The Chairman of the People’s Committee of Dong Nai province has also promised to hand over the land before March 15th.

The T1, T2 routes are important links to Long Thanh Airport. The project has a total investment of 336,000 billion VND, designed capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year. Currently, Long Thanh Airport is being constructed at full capacity with 4,000 people and 2,000 machines. The passenger terminal, non-bouyancy tower are gradually taking shape. The runway is estimated to exceed the progress by 3 months.
