Jewelry shop in Vinh Phuc province sells counterfeit Gucci, Dior, Louis Vuitton products

On April 25, the General Department of Market Management (GDM) said that recently, the GDM in provinces and cities nationwide have stepped up the inspection and handling of violations in gold trading activities.

Products with signs of counterfeiting famous brands

In Vinh Phuc province, the GDM said that the local GDM force coordinated with the Vinh Phuc provincial police to inspect Thanh Binh Gold and Silver Company Limited (in Tho Tang town, Vinh Tuong district).

Through the actual inspection, the inspection team discovered that the business was selling 13 products, which were gold-colored metal jewelry with signs of counterfeiting the Gucci, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel brands that are protected in Vietnam, with the value of infringing goods being nearly 80 million VND.

All infringing goods were temporarily detained by the GDM force No. 2 for further verification and clarification, and handled in accordance with the law. The GDM of Vinh Phuc province said that in the coming time, it will continue to strengthen the work of local management and keep abreast of gold trading activities in the area in order to promptly detect and strictly handle violations.

According to the GDM, in many localities such as Hanoi, Quang Ninh, An Giang, Tien Giang. Dong Thap…, the GDM forces have simultaneously inspected gold trading establishments, initially detecting a number of violations by business owners. In particular, gold jewelry products show signs of counterfeiting famous brands. This is one of the violations inspected and detected by the GDM force in the past and is being clarified for handling in accordance with regulations.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Le, Deputy Director of the GDM Department of Business, said that through inspections at gold and silver trading establishments, the GDM force initially identified a number of violations related to product labels, price tags, violations of business conditions, signs of infringement of industrial property rights, and violations in trading goods on e-commerce platforms.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Le, the inspection of gold metal products will continue to be strengthened by the GDM force from now until the end of 2024 nationwide, in order to contribute to stabilizing the gold market.
