International tourists to Hanoi for Tet nearly doubled

Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, welcomed 187,000 visitors during the first few days of the new year. Tourist attractions and historical sites such as the Temple of Literature, Ngoc Son Temple, and others have been attracting a large number of tourists, especially international visitors.

According to the information from the Hanoi Department of Tourism, during the 2-day Tet holiday in the Year of the Horse 2024 from February 8th to 10th, or from the 29th day of the 12th lunar month to the end of the 1st day of Tet, Hanoi welcomed 187,000 tourists, an increase of 17.4% compared to the same period last year.

International tourists showed strong growth, more than doubled compared to the same period in 2023 with 39,000 tourists, while domestic tourists reached 148,000.

Total tourism revenue reached 725 billion VND, an increase of over 30% compared to the same period in 2023. Among them, the number of tourists coming to Hanoi to play and visit during the Tet holiday mainly came from markets such as South Korea, China, and Taiwan (China)…

During the Lunar New Year, there were many attractive activities and festivals such as the “Thang Long Brilliant Light Festival” with unmanned aerial vehicles, the “Dragon Painting Festival”, the “Gia Thin 2024 Calligraphy Festival” at Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, the “2024 Street Tet Program” at the Phung Hung mural street… which were held throughout the tourist attractions and entertainment spots in Hanoi.

During the first days of the new year, tourist attractions in the city attracted a large number of visitors. Inspection and ensuring security and safety were strictly carried out.
