6 suspects charged with involvement in misconduct at Long Thanh airport project

People who report violations at the Long Thanh airport project will be rewarded generously if they come forward voluntarily and cooperate with the authorities.

On February 29, Dong Nai Provincial Police Investigation Agency sent a letter to the People’s Committee of districts/cities in the area to announce and request individuals and households entitled to compensation, support, and resettlement in accordance with the regulations of Long Thanh Airport project to actively collaborate with functional units to handle the case.

Accordingly, Dong Nai Provincial Police informed that they are investigating and resolving cases of “Bribery”, “Fraud, property embezzlement”, “Violations of regulations on compensation, support, and resettlement when the State reclaims land” related to land reclamation, compensation, support, and resettlement for Long Thanh Airport. At the same time, the Provincial Police initiated prosecution of 6 related defendants.

Among the 6 defendants are Nguyen Tan Bien, a territorial construction officer of Loc An commune, Long Thanh district; Pham Viet Manh, an officer of the Land Development Fund center of Long Thanh district; Nguyen Thi Ngoc Han, a resident of Long Thanh district…

Initial investigations determined that they are involved in wrongdoings regarding property valuation for land compensation in the Long Thanh Airport project.

The police also discovered multiple individuals who gave bribes to manipulate, legitimize files for personal gain.

To facilitate the investigation, Dong Nai Provincial Police requested local authorities and police to notify the public and urge individuals and households entitled to compensation, support, and resettlement not in accordance with the project’s regulations to contact the police to return the improperly obtained assets.

Subjects who voluntarily confess before being detected; individuals in positions with signs of abusing authority proactively surrender themselves. 

Obstruction of justice, failure to report a crime will be strictly handled according to the law. Violators who actively report and surrender will receive leniency and mitigation of criminal responsibility as provided for by law.
