Today, March 15, 2024, the opening ceremony of the National Press Festival 2024 took place in Ho Chi Minh City. This is the largest press festival of the year, organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.
ENHANCING THE EXCHANGE BETWEEN JOURNALISTS AND THE PUBLIC
The National Press Festival 2024 opened at 8 a.m. on March 15, 2024, and will close at 8 p.m. on March 17, 2024.
This is the largest event ever, with the participation of more than 600 central and local press agencies.
During the festival, various activities will take place at the interactive space of the Vietnam Economic Magazine. The latest trends in digital journalism will be introduced and applied. In particular, readers and partners will have the opportunity to experience “Askonomy – AI Chatbot – Economic Information Assistant,” developed exclusively by the Vietnam Economic Magazine/VnEconomy.
The press festival will have an exhibition area showcasing the history of Vietnamese journalism, with 8 special booths representing the People’s Newspaper, Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency, Military Press Corps, Police Press Corps, Government Electronic Information Portal, and the Office of the National Assembly.
112 outstanding press booths will display a variety of newspapers and magazines, covering various aspects of economic, political, cultural, social, defense, security, and foreign affairs.
There will also be a separate exhibition area showcasing the history of Vietnamese journalism, along with 64 booths featuring OCOP (One Commune, One Product) products from 50 provinces and cities.
THE PRESS – A CREDIBLE INFORMATION CHANNEL REFLECTING SOCIAL LIFE
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications, said that the city is proud to co-organize the National Press Festival 2024. The city has made plans to best serve the festival’s activities, thereby promoting the press activities and highlighting the civilized, modern, and compassionate aspects of Ho Chi Minh City.
This is an occasion to honor the great achievements of Vietnamese journalism and promote attractive press products that are closely associated with the labor and creative activities of journalists.
It is also an opportunity to strengthen the exchange and interaction between journalists and the public, encouraging the press to fulfill its functions and duties and meet the increasing information needs of the people, thereby enhancing the role, position, and reputation of the Vietnam Journalists Association in social life.
In addition, the National Press Festival this year includes a National Press Forum with the participation of more than 60 experienced journalists, leading press agencies in Vietnam, and reputable international communication experts.
The forum will feature 10 panel discussions on hot topics, such as enhancing the Party’s leadership and orientation in press activities; building a cultural environment for the press; data journalism and superior content strategies; investment in and effective application of technology at editorial offices; effective cooperation models between the press, businesses, and advertising agencies, etc.
The National Press Festival is an occasion to honor the great achievements and strong development, innovative spirit, and dedication of Vietnamese journalism. It also educates the traditional values, encourages self-esteem, and instills pride in the 99-year history of revolutionary journalism, as well as inspires the aspirations for creativity, innovation, and dedication of journalists and association members.
Additionally, it recognizes and encourages the significant contributions of units, individuals, organizations, and enterprises to the revolutionary press cause in Vietnam.
Within the framework of the National Press Festival, the Organizing Committee will select and award the Outstanding Exhibition Award, the Impressive Lunar New Year Cover Award, the Impressive Lunar New Year Radio Program Award, the Impressive Lunar New Year Television Program Award, the Impressive Lunar New Year Electronic Interface Award, and the Outstanding Press Award for excellent reports on the National Press Festival 2024.
