February 2024: No Trading Activity in Government Bond Futures Contract

The derivatives market of the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) has experienced a significant decline in trading activity in February 2024.

Specifically, the average trading volume of the VN30 index futures contracts reached 166,138 contracts per session, a decrease of 11.56% compared to January 2024. The trading value (based on the nominal value of contracts) was 20,391 billion dong per session, a decrease of 7.18% compared to the previous month.

The open interest (OI) at the end of the month was 48,184 contracts, a decrease of 11.35% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 20.64% compared to the same period last year. It is worth noting that there were no transactions conducted for the Government bond futures contracts in February 2024.

In terms of investor structure, foreign investors continued to increase their trading activities in February 2024, accounting for 3.35% of the total trading value of the market, while proprietary trading by securities companies accounted for 2.14%.

The number of derivative trading accounts reached 1,537,645 accounts at the end of February 2024, an increase of 1.77% compared to the previous month.
