According to the evaluation of China’s media, in 2023, the production and consumption of new energy vehicles in China increased significantly, with the number of vehicles produced and consumed reaching 9.587 million and 9.495 million respectively, an increase of 35.8% and 37.9% compared to the same period in 2022.

Unlike in 2022, electronic devices and transmission systems were the main components causing faults. In the systems with faults in 2023, the engine and electrical components were the main parts causing faults, accounting for 84.9% of the total number of recalled vehicles.

In the consumer reports, electrical devices (17%), engines (14%), and vehicle bodies (16%) were the top three issues. Among the new energy vehicles, 24.9% had problems with the electrical system (electric battery, electric motor, and electronic control system), and 5% had problems with the autonomous driving assistance system.

The number of recalled vehicles due to production reasons also increased by 37.3% compared to 2022, and design issues remained the main cause of faults.
